Core Modules
Responsible Technology 2 (15 Credits)
The aims of this module are to enable students to articulate social, ethical and legal issues and commercial risks together with the opportunities inherent in the use of computing technologies and the deployment of computer-based systems.
Responsible Technology 1 (15 Credits)
The aims of this module are to enable students to articulate social, ethical and legal issues and commercial risks together with the opportunities inherent in the use of computing technologies and the deployment of computer-based systems.
Penetration Testing (15 Credits)
The aims of this module are to enable students to identify, analyse and evaluate complex, incomplete or conflicting data relating to security threats against information systems or services in the context of penetration testing used as a defensive Information Operation.
Cyber Operations (15 Credits)
The aims of this module are to enable students to undertake Cyber Operations at the strategic,tactical and operational levels regardless the Information Environment.
Distributed Systems Security (15 Credits)
The aims of this module are to enable students to appreciate how the issues and concerns of operating systems design are modified when extended to networked and distributed systems. Gain a deep understanding of the theoretical and practical techniques used to model and provide security and protection, within this context. Examine and articulate the importance and limitations of these techniques.
Digital Forensics (15 Credits)
The aims of this module are to enable students to manage and investigate cyber-security and cyber crime incidents by employing digital forensic techniques and practices.
Final Research Project
Cyber Security Masters Project (60 Credits)
This module is designed to enable students to select and apply cyber security techniques to practically investigate a particular problem. Furthermore, they will critically evaluate their own work. This module also aims to enable students to demonstrate that they can work independently with minimum supervision, efficiently plan their work, and present the results in both written and oral form. Students will also extend their knowledge by making effective use of the technical and scientific literature, and other relevant materials.
The entry requirements for the programme are:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or cognate discipline at a level equivalent to a UK second class Honours degree.
- For International applicants whose first language is not English, IELTS score of 6.0 (with no less than 5.5 in any band), or equivalent.
The supporting documents for the programme are:
- Bachelor’s degree (where applicable) at a level equivalent to a UK second class Honours degree.
- A reference letter from a current or previous manager or HR department or person in a position of authority is required as supporting evidence
- Personal identification documents e.g passport or I.D
- A personal statement (approx. 3-500 words) and/or video presentation about why you want to study this programme.
- Proof of English Language Proficiency (POE) where applicable.
